The options above are in the center of Athens (Syntagma, Ermou, Plaka, etc). There are several options ranging from 2 to 5 star hotels. Hotels outside the center are probably cheaper. There is always the option to find accommodation through www.airbnb.com, www.booking.com, www.hotels.com. Other central areas one could stay are Lycabettus/Kolonaki, Megaro Mousikis and Ampelokipoi.
